Technical solutions for creative companies

Unity Learn VR Samples

Unity Learn VR Samples

Lloyd Digital is owned by Iestyn Lloyd, a BAFTA winning Technical Director specialising in interactive 3D content for VR, iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, and other emerging platforms.

I have 17 years of experience with working on solutions for world class clients including Avios, Aardman, BBC, Barclays, Channel 4, Disney, Google, Marvel, Paramount, Royal Air Force, Shell, Universal, and Unity Technologies. Many of these years were spent at Littleloud as Technical Director.

I specialise in Unity and C#, enabling rapid prototyping and development, allowing your product to be quickly iterated upon for fast results.

With a focus on emerging technology, I am able to offer solutions using cutting-edge hardware such as Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2, Gear VR, HTC Vive, Google Cardboard, Razer Hydra, Leap Motion, Myo, and Kinect. Where possible, I prefer to target a high performance window, allowing use of complex lighting, physically based shading,  high quality models, and stunning post-processing effects.

Projects of all sizes are of interest, from small freelance jobs, to long-term contracts, consultancy, training, and speaking engagements. For larger projects I can subcontract an entire team of trusted developers, artists, and audio engineers to meet all aspects of development.

Most work is in the form of internal prototypes and R&D projects for large corporations, and are frequently covered under Non-Disclosure Agreements, so specific details are not allowed to be disclosed publicly. Occasionally, permission is given to show some work privately.

Take a look at the R&D Gallery for examples of recent experimental demos, Dioramas for experiments in high-end realtime 3D, and Activity to see what I've been up to recently.

VR Development

Virtual Reality is one of the most exciting technological developments in recent years. Using VR we can transport users into new realities, in which they can experience new levels of immersion.

VR can be useful in many industries; training, e-learning, gaming, and healthcare are all sectors that can benefit from the advancements in VR.

As an early adopter of the Oculus DK1 and DK2, and with extensive experience with Unity, VR is a perfect fit.

With experience of Kinect, Leap Motion, Myo, and Razer Hydra, we can move beyond mice, keyboards, and gamepads for input.

All non-personal Virtual Reality projects are currently in development, or covered under a non-disclosure agreement.

Projects will be disclosed when available.

Unity VR Samples

Unity asked me to work with them on creating the Unity VR Samples, with example projects and extensive documentation to help people new to VR to get started and create amazing VR experiences.

VR Brighton

I set up and run VR Brighton, a local Meetup group for developers and VR enthusiasts. With an average attendance of 40-60 people, and great reviews, it's one of Brighton's most popular tech groups.

You can also follow VR Brighton on Twitter, or join the VR Brighton Facebook group.

VR Presentations

I have done many presentations on Virtual Reality, Oculus rift, and Unity - both locally and internationally.

If you're interested in an informal chat, or a more formal presentation and hands-on experience on VR and how it could benefit you and your clients, please get in touch.

AR Car demo

While Augmented Reality has been with us for many years, the proliferation of mobile devices with powerful GPUs allows us to create experiences that simply were not possible before. Additionally, the advent of HMDs with cameras is opening up new ways of interacting with our environment.

For AR development I prefer to use Vuforia - a free, powerful toolset with excellent integration with Unity.

All AR projects are currently covered under NDA. I have permission to show some privately.
